  • Overview

    Responsible for conducting biologic-based research, recommending and assessing biochemical processes and assisting with the development of biochemical processes for the manufacturing of finished medical devices.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    Understanding of experimental design, execution and data analysis.

     

    A working knowledge of basic biology and microbiology techniques including working with biological samples such as tissue.

     

    A basic knowledge of chemistry, analytical chemistry and bioanalytical procedures including HPLC, GC and UV-VIS.

     

    Understanding of bioconjugate techniques, extraction and analysis of DNA and RNA, enzymatic assays.

     

    Perform routine histology and immunohistochemistry on tissue samples.  Development of new stains and procedures.

     

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities                                            

    There are no direct-reporting responsibilities with this position.  Position may include day-to-day supervising of R&D Technicians and R&D Pilot-Production Non-Exempt employees in order to complete tasks according to timelines.

    Education and Experience                                                

    Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Bio-Engineering, Biomechanical Engineering (B.S. or B.E) from an accredited four-year college or university; minimum of 4years experience.

     

    Language Skills                                            

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and technical documents/drawings.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

     

    Mathematical Skills                                      

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Understanding of fluid flow dynamics a plus. 

     

    Reasoning Ability                                         

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

     

    Computer Skills                                            

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Computer Aided Design software; Development software; Statistical Analysis software; Internet software, Project Management software and Spreadsheet software.
