    Laboratory Technician-Medical Device

     

    Seeking a highly motivated employee to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment to conduct laboratory chemical testing activities concerned with the quality control of medical device manufacturing.  Perform all duties to check the quality of medical device products including raw material, finished and semi-finished product. Operate and maintain analytical chemistry equipment and instrumentation. 

     

     

     

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions / Typical Duties of the Position

     

    Experience with chemical laboratory procedures and chemistry techniques

     

    Interprets SOP instructions, engineering drawings, schematic diagrams to complete inspections.

     

    Able to use a wide assortment of QC inspection instruments (calipers, scales, drop indicators, gas chromatography, spectrophotometer, DSC) to assure components and devices are manufactured and functioning according to specification.

     

    Document and analyze data obtained during all quality activities consistent with company policies and procedures.

     

    Perform product and environmental microbiological analyses (bioburden)

     

    Order chemicals and supplies for the chemical laboratory.

     

    Lead calibration and maintenance activities for the laboratory.

     

    Participate to review quality inspection procedures and propose modifications and updates.

     

    Reviews device history records for product lot releases. 

     

    Qualifications

    Experience Required:

    • Perform all phases of testing with accuracy and precision.
    • Assist with approving data if directed by supervisor.
    • Meticulously process test data using systems that identify outlier and anomalies.
    • Utilize and or create work lists, entering and approving results, and other reports as they are developed.
    • Perform accurate quality control and Quality Assessment activities according to protocols.
    • Organize and present performance metrics to the organization.
    • Assist supervisor to maintain adequate QA records and requisition storage.
    • Operate all test equipment, including maintaining calibration, quality control, samples and reagent inventory, and routine maintenance.
    • Clean and decontaminate work areas daily.
    • Assist with the preparation and execution of validation protocols.
    • Assist with the writing and revision of standard operating procedures as requested by supervisor.
    • Other duties and projects as required.

     

    Education Required:

    • High School diploma or equivalent education.
    • Three to five years of related inspection experience and training.
    • Experience in Microbiology laboratory environments required.
    • Experience with LAL and Bioburden testing preferred.
    • Experience in Medical Devices preferred.
    • Familiarity with Quality Systems is preferred.
